Pixelation and digitization in Germany

We love personal interaction. And if face-to-face interaction isn't possible, then we meet digitally. With open cameras, genuine interest, and the willingness to accept a bit of pixelation if necessary.

Tuesday evening, the familiar Teams call tone sounds. Cameras are adjusted, and someone laughs because a microphone was still switched off.

The first online group meeting has taken place, and we are absolutely thrilled by the enriching exchange.

The discussion covered topics such as robots in healthcare, the catacombs of Tropical Islands, luxury bunkers in Switzerland, and digitalization in work environments where a fax machine is the preferred means of communication in 2026. Since we all face the challenges of digitalization in one way or another, it was both grounding and inspiring to be able to exchange ideas about these hurdles.

As the evening progressed – the first cold drinks had already been opened – the shared exchange about one's own approach to communication with employees, customers, and in intercultural contexts encouraged self-reflection. The personal experiences were accompanied by many smiles and the occasional burst of laughter.

The discussion became more thoughtful when one of the attendees shared their experience of successfully completing a project but falling far short of their own goals and standards. We've all experienced this in one way or another, yet we often lack a space to discuss it.

What remains of the evening?

It was truly fascinating to witness how well networking works between people from such diverse industries. As the conversation progressed, more and more topics emerged that affect and connect us all. That evening made it clear that networking can be more than just business cards and quick answers.

The next dates are already planned, and initial ideas for a joint canoe trip on Lake Constance have been discussed. Johannes later summarized the evening euphorically and very aptly in our internal chat:

"What an awesome evening!"

Welcome to BusinessFriends, dear online group. We look forward to future meetings with you!

PS: …and if you ever wonder in a few years why there's always such excellent ice cream at BusinessFriends events, remember this blog post. It happened here!
